DPI x Cognizant Full Stack Development Apprenticeship
We are currently accepting applications for our DPI x Cognizant Full Stack Development Apprenticeship Program!
The DPI x Cognizant Full Stack Development Apprenticeship is a joint effort put together by Discovery Partners Institute, Cognizant, and City Colleges paid for by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the US DOL. Students must first complete a 16-week pre-apprenticeship program at City Colleges. After completion of the pre-apprenticeship, they will have the opportunity to interview with Cognizant, and complete a one-year, full time, paid apprenticeship as a full stack developer.
Who should apply to this program?
Great Question! For this program we require that all applicants:
- Have at least an associate degree and 5-years work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and two years of work experience
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
What else should I know about this apprenticeship program?
Applicants must complete the application process and be selected for the pre-apprenticeship program at City Colleges. If selected, applicants will complete a one-hour assessment testing skills needed for a tech career.
Upon acceptance and completion of the part-time, free 16-week, Java pre-apprenticeship course, pre-apprentices will be invited to interview as a full-time apprentice with Cognizant. As an apprentice, you will begin a PAID, full-time, year-long apprenticeship program.
Please note the pre-apprenticeship program is unpaid and begins August 31 – December 17, 2022. The class meets online Wednesday evenings, in-person Thursday evenings, and in-person Saturday mornings at City Colleges’ Wright College Humboldt Park campus.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for this program is August 5th, but there are limited seats available. We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis to determine:
1) the meeting of Cognizant requirements
2) the ability to pursue goals and overcome challenges
3) interest in tech
4) the potential to change the tech field through their unique skill set, professional or personal background, or future interests
